How to use

Beds and borders

1. Remove all weeds from the bed or border.
2. Ensure the soil is moist around the plants, by watering if necessary, prior to application. This will help aid moisture retention around the plants.
3. Spread a layer of Levington® Decorative Bed & Border Bark at 5 cm (2″) deep around the plants.
4. For healthy and beautiful plants in your beds and borders, we recommend Levington® Soil Conditioner when planting, and adding a Levington® soil supplement such as Levington® Chicken Manure to enrich the soil.

How to use

For containers and baskets: Place a layer of compost in the base of the pot. Tap out the plant from the old pot, loosen the root ball and place in the centre of the pot. Fill the space around the root ball, ensuring the compost level covers all the roots. Firm lightly, water thoroughly and let drain.

For beds and borders: Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Position the plant and fill with 50% soil and 50% compost and firm around the base. Water thoroughly.

NOTE: We strongly recommend using Miracle-Gro Peat Free Premium Azalea, Camellia & Rhododendron, Ericaceous Compost for acid loving plants like Azaleas, Rhododendrons and Heather.

Not just for tomatoes

Can also be used with crops such as aubergines and sweet peppers for maximum growth and flavour.

How to use

1. PLANTING: Shake the bag to distribute the contents. Cut out panels along dotted lines. When only planting two plants use the end panels. Delay planting tomatoes until the first flowers open.
2. WATERING: After planting, water in using about 6 litres (approx. 1.5 gallon) and then water as necessary to keep the bag moist.
3. FEEDING: We recommend feeding tomato fertiliser. Use 4.5 litres of diluted tomato fertiliser for most crops, use once a week. For heavy feeders such as tomatoes under glass feed twice a week when the fruit on the second truss has set.
4. GROWING TIPS: Avoid piercing the bottom of the bag to retain water. Train plants to fan out so that they receive maximum light and air. For best results feed with tomato fertiliser.

Where to use

Tomatoes under glass: Start feeding when the fruit on first truss is pea sized.

Tomatoes outdoor: Start feeding when the fruit on second truss is pea sized.

Peppers and aubergines: Start feeding when the fruit is the size of a golf ball.

Melons: Start feeding when the first fruit is swelling.

Courgette, marrows and cucumbers: Start feeding when picking commences.

How to use

Levington® Ericaceous Compost is ideal for potting, taking cuttings, outdoor planting, tubs, troughs, window boxes and acidic beds.

How to use

For containers: Ensure that the container has sufficient drainage holes. Then fill with Levington® Peat Free Multi Purpose Compost. Add your chosen flowers and firm lightly, then water thoroughly.

For hanging baskets: Line the basket if necessary and part fill it with Levington® Peat Free Multi Purpose Compost. Insert plants through sides of the basket where possible to ensure a ball of colour. Fill the basket with compost and arrange plants on the top with trailing ones around the sides. After everything is planted, firm lightly and water thoroughly.

For seedlings: Fill the seed tray with Levington® Peat Free Multi Purpose Compost and level off. Firm lightly and water. Sow seeds following the pack instructions. Cover the seed tray making sure the tray is out of direct sunlight.

For cuttings: Fill the pot with Levington® Peat Free Multi Purpose Compost, take the cutting (according to the type of plant), water, cover and keep warm.

For beds and borders: Water the plant thoroughly. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Part fill the hole with a mixture of 50% soil and 50% Levington® Peat Free Multi Purpose Compost. Ensure the plant is at the same level as in the original pot. Fill in firmly, then water. For best results we recommend also using Levington® Soil Conditioner.

Use straight from the bag, it’s as easy as that. When filling or potting, firm lightly. Keep the compost moist and do not let it dry out. Do not leave plants standing in water.

For making composts: Due to its high organic matter content, this top quality soil is ideal for mixing with base dressings to make a loam-based compost. To enrich it add Miracle-Gro® Slow Release Plant Food granules at the rate of 25g per 10 litres of soil. For alpines and other plants that need increased drainage, add 1 part coarse grit or washed sharp sand to 3 parts of Levington Organic Blend Top Soil.

For levelling lawns: Use Levington Organic Blend Top Soil to produce a clean, level surface before sowing grass seed or laying turf or for filling in hollows in established lawns.

For beds and borders: Water the plant thoroughly. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Part fill the hole with a mixture of 50% soil and 50% compost. Ensure the plant is at the same level as in the ground. Fill in firmly, then water.

For containers: In windy positions, a loam-based compost will provide the weight needed to help keep patio pots and containers upright.

For replacing sick soil: Soil in greenhouses that has developed a build-up of pests and diseases or soil that has grown roses or strawberries for a number of years may need replacing if new plants are to establish. Use Levington Organic Blend Top Soil to introduce a fresh, fertile soil in which plants can thrive.

How to use

Storing Levington Peat Free John Innes No.2 from one year to another may result in the fertiliser ratios becoming unbalanced.

Before repotting, water plants well and allow to drain. Put fresh Levington Peat Free John Innes No.2 compost in the bottom of a new pot. Turn the old plant upside down and tap the pot sharply to release. Place the plant in the middle of the new pot and add more compost, firming lightly around the root-ball. Leave a space of at least 1cm below the pot rim to allow adequate space for watering. Water the plant well.

How to use
Soil improvement: For general soil improvement, fork a 2.5cm (1″) layer of Levington Organic Blend Soil Conditioner into the top 10cm (4″) of soil.

Before sowing and planting: Fork in Levington Organic Blend Farmyard Manure to the soil surface and to the bottom of the planting holes, drills and trenches for an abundant crop of flowers, fruit and vegetables.

For vegetable plots and allotments: In spring spread a 5-8cm (2-3″) layer of Levington Organic Blend Farmyard Manure over soil and dig in before sowing or planting. On heavy clay soils repeat when winter digging.

Established beds and Borders: Spread a 5-8cm (2-3″) layer of Levington Organic Blend Farmyard Manure beneath the branches of roses, shrubs, trees and bushes. Allow a 5-8cm (2-3″) gap around stems. This 100% organic mulch will help the soil retain moisture, suppress weeds and release food to surrounding plants.

Plant invigoration: In spring, apply a layer of Levington Organic Blend Farmyard Manure approximately 5-8cm (2-3″) deep onto the clean soil around established herbaceous flowers, shrubs, fruit and vegetables and work into the soil surface. It will add nutrients for better yields and vital plant development.

For new lawns: Spread a layer of Levington Organic Blend Farmyard Manure 5-8cm (2-3″) deep onto clean soil and dig into the top 10-15cm (4-6″) of soil for improved grass seed germination and quicker establishment of turf.
